Behind The Scenes

Dear Twinizens,

I heard that some of you are nervous about the future of Twinity because of a number of different rumors. So I thought it might be helpful to explain a bit what has been going on in the last year.

Indeed our main investors did leave Metaversum (the company behind Twinity) end of 2010. I was CTO at that time and aquired the majority of shares in a so called management buyout from our ex-investors and became CEO of Metaversum.

My main goal in the last year was to put Twinity on stable financial grounds to make it possible to run it without loosing money. To achieve this I reduced our costs to a minimum and also did some steps to increase our revenues (e.g. the new VIP pass and adult pass).

I am happy to tell you that these measures allowed me to run Metaversum without losses in 2011. Also Twinity is now break-even. This means that the revenues we make allow us to cover all running costs.

To show city exteriors in Twinity we had to pay high license fees to our map data provider in the past. As my main goal was to make Twinity pay for its running costs, I decided to stop paying these license fees from the beginning of 2012. As a result we are not able to show the city exteriors any more at this time. It was a difficult decision, but now Twinity is free of costly ongoing licenses.

We can bring back the cities in the future if we re-license the map data or if we move our city-generation-technology to free data sources like open street map.

I hope this information helps to understand a bit better what was going on behind the scenes recently. If you have more questions, you can always talk to me or Carolyn in world or contact us via mail and feedback.

Best wishes

CEO Metaversum

  1. Seem that u guyz became more occupated with covering expenses lately, and it sounds good to me. It promising future for our world in longer term. Theres one more thing worth to discuss here. Ways to improve constant influx of new people in world, what is the only secure way to raise part of profit which comes from vip and adult pass., from buying g’s and properties etc. Theres number of us who “live” in Twinity for 2 or more years, and who r involved in lot of inworld activities. It’s hard not to see that 18 months ago, we had regular everyday events in some places with 40 people present… Today that number is stabile, about 20.. There could be numerous reasons for that, one of them probably is much bigger circulation of people trough different places, bigger offer of places and events at same time etc. But it’s most def only just one part of story. Fact is that number of people inworld, if not falling down, not growing at all. I didn’t wrote all this as critic, but as idea. We are aware that u had to cut loses, and probably lower your stuff, so now less people work on same or bigger things. In all that theres no much room for someone who would work on constant influx of new people in our world. As i said, that is the only thing which could work as financ.injection in long term. New people buying vips, properties, gees.. Why don’t u stimulate some of us who r capable to bring if not thousands, than at least hundreds of new people (who would stick inworld and play game seriously). I’m not saying this “just like that”. I know exactly how many people i bring in world with my activities on Koinup virtual galery, where i daily communicate with hundreds of people from SL and other virtual worlds, It’s just one place where i share Twinity spirit, and personaly, i have at least 6-7 alike places… (what about fb, where i have 2500 friends, 300 from Twinity, other from SL mostly… it’s not so easy to pick some serious sl character, to explain him/her for hours about Twinity advantages, and to bring them inworld as person who buys vip pass and apartment in matter of days.
If you find some way to stimulate some of us, we can show you results. I am absolutely positive that our “likes” on fb would finaly jump to 10 thous in no time. I’m working on things mentioned here for last couple of months, and i can connect you with Twinizens who came from other vw’s – and im not talking about 2 yrs ago. Those people are very satisfied with Twinity, and they r staying, designing, opening shops, dj-ing etc. Let’s bring more of them?

  2. we all knew something was going on ther….thanks for thr post:)
